Cassidy Brewin has been hired to finalize projects and coordinate the evaluation of high risk drinking and prescription drug misuse/abuse prevention efforts under the Partnerships for Success grant. This grant sunsets in June 2019. Cassidy was raised in Minnesota and is a newcomer to Bend. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Whitman College, where her primary focus was neurophysiology. Prior to working for DCHS, Cassidy worked in Guatemala on impact assessment of nutritional interventions in order to reduce malnutrition in vulnerable populations. When not at work, Cassidy enjoys coaching and playing soccer, hiking, camping and cooking.
Lauren Wood has been hired to coordinate the Drug Free Communities grant which focuses on the prevention of underage alcohol, marijuana and tobacco use in the greater Bend area. Lauren is an alumni of St. Olaf College where she earned her B.A. and an alumni of Oregon State University where she earned her Master of Public Health in Health Behavior & Promotion. Lauren has worked across topics including chronic disease prevention, HIV prevention in an international setting, and substance abuse prevention in the community and university setting. She is excited to continue this work as a new resident of Deschutes County, while exploring all the fantastic hikes, biking routes and camping spots in the area.
Welcome Cassidy and Lauren!
