The Shared Future Coalition is excited to re-launch our Connect Workshop that is designed to equip parents and guardians with tools to talk to their children about the harms of substance use.
First launched in 2018, the Connect Workshop uses a peer model to provide parents and guardians in Deschutes County with resources needed to talk with their children about the harms of substance use. Following the roll out of the first several workshops, recommendations were implemented to further improve these sessions. In response, four new workshops will be delivered this Fall, three in English and one in Spanish. Workshops will last two hours and the target audience is parents of 5th – 9th graders, as research indicates the earlier parents talk to their kids, the better.
Dates for the workshops will be posted to the Shared Future Coalition projects page once they become available.
