The Sisters Committee was formed in January 2020 and is comprised of stakeholders representing different sectors of the Sisters community. The committee utilizes the Strategic Prevention Framework to address underage substance use, which includes enhancing protective factors and reducing risk factors that are present in the community. The committee is currently working on the following strategic direction areas that were selected based on findings from the Youth Marijuana Use Assessment completed in June 2020:

    • Increase community knowledge and capacity to prevent youth marijuana use
    • Build effective partnerships to advocate for equitable treatment services in Sisters
    • Establish community buy-in and a backbone organization to champion prevention efforts
    • Enhance existing positive youth development opportunities by increasing accessibility and diversity of options
