Local Coalition Working To Curb Underage, Binge Drinking

BEND, OR — To help reduce underage and binge drinking among young adults in Deschutes County, the Shared Future Coalition announced plans this week to launch a significant grass-roots awareness campaign.Coalition Coordinator Julie Spackman told KBNW News a 2011 national survey ranked Oregon as having one of the highest drinking rates among 12 to 20 year olds.  And youth drinking in Deschutes County is even higher than the state’s average.  She said drinking has the immediate health impact of inebriation, but long-term health impacts as well.
